Making wishing wells to raise money for water wells in Uganda

Year 6 have been making junk model wishing wells. These wishing wells will be used to collect money to help fund water wells in Uganda. For further information see our school website page on the Clifton Diocese Schools Project.

St Joe's News & Views

St Joe's News & Views newspaper is currently on sale every Monday, Wednesday & Friday in the school playground. Written & produced by members of our Year 6 class, it is full of interesting stories and fantastic quizzes. All the profit goes towards our school charity 'The Clifton Diocese Schools Project'.



Reading and analysing poems about refugees

Following Peace Day, Year 6 have been reading and analysing poems about refugees. Today we looked at a fantastic poem by Brian Bilston. The poem contains two voices about refugees. The second voice becomes apparent when you read the poem in reverse.

Peace Day - Refugees

Today for Peace Day Year 6 focused on refugees and the difficulties they face.  We made paper boats to highlight their plight and had some reflection/prayer time.









Looking at wars since World War 2

Today is International Peace Day . Year 6 have been looking at the location of wars since WW2. We quickly realised there were so many wars it would take too long to locate them all.





We focused on the Falklands War and how we could prevent wars in the future.

Together in God's family we love, grow and learn

Today we started the whole school topic: 'Together in God's family we love, grow and learn'.  For the next two weeks, classes will be exploring our school mission statement; undertaking learning on our new charity work in Uganda and focusing on the Year of St Joseph.
